I just love this dress and color combo, so I had to post some similar options of this dress for you guys while there’s still plenty of summer left to rock these pieces. And, I just had to post a pic of my Hott hubby ;). However, the rest of this post is dedicated to fall & Nordstrom. Fashion school’s in session, and you don’t want to miss this inside peak into what fall has to offer!

Enter: Nordy’s Anniversary Sale (basically Christmas in July)! This sale makes it a great time to start building your fall wardrobe. In that vain, I wanted to prep you guys on trends you’ll want to try this coming season. I’ll also give you a couple tips on how to shop the sale to make sure you don’t miss out on your dream pieces 😉

Here are some trends that were spotted during the Fall 2018 NYFW shows and are blazing the trail for the fall fashion scene:

1. Prints on Prints on Prints: Print mixing, vibrant colors, and cheeky designs emblazoned the runway models of the best designers. Maybe search for a houndstooth skirt and pair it with a glen plaid top to show your sassy self knows how to werk her fall fashionista self!
2. Statement Coats: Think faux fur accents, puffer jackets, thick, patterned, pronounced outerwear. We’re talking layer and bulking up like you’re a leading linebacker, ladies! Even the fur coats were noticeably looser in preparation of layering. Layer on layers this season.
3. Leisure suits: Suits and sets in general can be expected to be seen this upcoming season. So, don’t think of your juicy couture tracksuits, ladies, think fun, sequined, or suede numbers that run circles around past tracksuit trends.
4. Animal Print, Meow: While an expected fall staple, try buying more longline styles or looser fits for layering.
5. 80’s Fever: Yep, you guessed it-look for broad shoulder pieces (but slim it down with tight fitting denim or a pencil skirt). Bright tights, fishnets, sequins, and a little western motif thrown in. Once again, fringe, the Canadian tuxedo, cowboy boots, the wider plaid blouses, etc.
6. The future is Now: Futuristic styles are still here (think the PVC spring trend ) with foil, plastic, patin coats, and iridescent pieces. These are definitely pieces that will be a hot trend and fun to style-maybe taking you outside of your fashion comfort zone.
7. Shearling: Pretty much anything shearling goes this fall. Embroidered, plain, foiled, you name it-it’s in!
8. Going Mad for Plaid: Plaid is pretty standard in fall fashion, but I think you should go for bolder plaid patterns. Look for bright colors-more 70s/80s styles. The muted plaids are still a safe bet, though, but I definitely recommend perhaps a mustard yellow plaid that could be paired with some denim and cowboy boots? Just a thought 😉
9. Say Hello to my Mini Bag: Baby bags are super hot for fall! We’re already seeing a resurgence of smaller bag styles with the belt bag, smaller crossbodies, etc. I would even narrow it down to more circular mini bags-those seem to be gaining a lot of traction.
10. Feeling Floral : Floral patterns transcend the seasons. Fall seems to veer more towards vintage or retro styles, (yes, there’re futuristic designs taking roots in the fall fashion dirt) but you won’t go wrong with basically any type of floral patterns. Maybe even search for some victorian collared floral blouses, or a statement floral coat?
11. The IT Hats: I’m doing on the hunt for a good beret and some new thicker knit beanies for fall. Depending on whether you want to go more street style of Parisian-inspired, perhaps, these two styles will give you what you need. These are the hats to shop for, ladies!
12. Fall’s Hottest Colors: If you want to flaunt your fashion knowledge, shop for reds, rust, magenta/hot pink, or winter-white. Personally, I’m excited to rock some head-to-toe chic white ensembles. I’m also excited to try to add more red to my wardrobe!

Shopping Tips for Nordstrom’s Sale
1. Make a list: Make a list of your top, must-have items. Get those in your cart, quick. Items in general, let alone hot items, sell out fast. So, make sure you get what you want!
2. Order a couple of sizes: If you’re unsure of your size, order a couple so that you can ensure you score your the right size of whatever piece you order. Again, things sell out quickly, so if you wing it and just order one size, chances are you won’t be able to order another size by the time you realize your current size doesn’t fit.
3. Order ASAP: Again, prioritize what you absolutely “need,” and order it right then and there. The biggest sale of the year doesn’t come without competition 😉
4. Know the dates of when you can start shopping: Early access starts July 12-July 19 (become a Rewards Card Member & get that early access). July 20- August 5 is when the sale’s open to the general public. Depending on your status, get your lists going and get to shopping!

Okay, if you’ve read to this point, you deserve a gold medal. This was long, but hopefully you have a better idea of the fall fashion scene and what to look for during the biggest sale of the season! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to comment below!
