It’s Christmas in July, ladies! The annual Nordstrom Anniversary sale is the bane of my bank account’s existence! I always find excuses to buy things, even when I really don’t need them or have room to store them. To be honest, I didn’t find as many top picks this year, for some reason. So many things I felt that I had something similar or it just didn’t “pop”out at me. I saw so many other bloggers with such great buys, and I thought to myself “Am I not doing something right? Should I be buying what so-and-so got?” But you know what, I’m doing ME and that’s always right.

I’ve been learning a lot about self love lately. It’s something I’ve struggled with and am committed to working on. It’s easy to seek external validation. Maybe if you buy the clothes that look good on someone else, you’ll finally feel pretty enough. Or, if you get that promotion at work, you’ll finally feel that confidence in your abilities or intelligence. Ladies, if you’re seeking validation through what you do or how you dress or anything extrinsic, then you’ll never measure up. You’ll be on an endless quest full of self deprecation and self destruction. We lose ourselves when we base our worth or value when we seek affirmation from others. We need to work on deciphering the difference between what we do and who we are. Just because you wear beautiful clothes doesn’t make you beautiful. You already ARE beautiful just the way you are. I’ve sought approval my entire life. I’ve lacked self love and not understood that love shouldn’t be conditional. Our worth shouldn’t be a swinging pendulum.

While this may sound off topic, it’s actually quite ON topic. We gravitate towards seeing beauty and worth from the world around us, not the heart and soul inside of us. Would you look great in these pieces I’ve picked out, YES. But, would you be beautiful without them, Abso-effing-lutely, baby! Growth is a process that doesn’t end, but let’s start that journey towards self love today. Buy clothes or enjoy your new promotion, but don’t let it define you, your happiness, your worth. With or without those things, you’re still you. So, who are you? That’s the million dollar question that I’ve been journaling about and working with my therapist on. Life’s thrown me so many curveballs that it’s been easy to feel like I’m weak, incapable, not enough. But, that’s not true. Through self love comes a strength and beauty that withstands any trial or tribulation. Love yourself; give yourself grace, and know that I think you’re beautiful and enough. It’s your turn to believe that.

Back to the clothes 😉 Based on trends and my personal taste, I fell in love with these pieces, and I think many of them are great transitional pieces, which makes them a great investment. I hope ya’ll have a blast shopping my items and discovering your own style. But remember, these clothes don’t have any intrinsic value. Buy them because you like them, not because that’s where your concept of self beauty comes from! Love you all, and thank you for spending time in my closet with me! Until next time…

XO,

Sarah
