Hi, loves! Hope you’re having a good week. Mine’s been decent, but I definitely am more stressed than usual. Not to mention, this time of year is so awkward, like we just had back-to-back holidays essentially, but now we’re just stuck with cold weather and seasonal depression! In addition to the wintertime blues, blogging has been a bit challenging, lately. Whether it’s Mother Nature trying to sabotage my pictures or my blog eluding my efforts by breaking links and going haywire, things have just been cray-zy! Nevertheless, these little speed bumps aren’t going to rain on my parade, know why? Valentine’s Day/Galentine’s Day/Single Awareness Day is upon us!
I personally love Valentine’s Day, not because we do anything particularly extravagant for it, but because amongst all the hate in the world. busy schedules, interruptions and sidetracks, many of us have this day where we feel okay with ignoring the distractions and busy schedules; we silence the hate around us, and we celebrate the love we have. Yes, I know we should practice this everyday , but our reality often doesn’t work out like that. Life too easily gets in the way, so celebrating love becomes a work-in-progress for life! But, while we’re perfecting that craft. let’s take a minute and treat ourselves to indulging in this holiday-hey, if we can support national pizza day (which I may be the biggest fan of that za life), then we can damn well support loving on ourselves, our partners, or on some chocolate. Whether you’re celebrating the love your have for yourself or your partner, cheers to love!
So, we’ve established that we’re doing this thing, so now, what do you wear? Girl, I got you. Whether you’re fine dining or Netflix and chilling this V-day, here are some looks that’ll rock your date or your couche’s socks off!
Velvet Valentine: This dress is va-va-VOOM. With a plunging neckline and an up-to-there slit, it’s a winner in the sexy department. Not to mention, velvet’s totally having a moment right now. For me, velvet & I have had a moment since I was 2. One of the first events I can remember was being super sassy in my velvet dress, not being a team player for our family pictures. Mom bribed me with the Golden Arches, and I rocked that dang dress like I was Gigi Hadid on a NYFW runway. This is also probably where my unhealthy relationship with food started, ugh. Ok, flashback over! Another great aspect about this dress is it’s wrap aspect, which makes it a perfect choice for virtually any size. If you want frisky business this V-Day, wear this. Trust me, it’s been hubby-tested, LOL!
Crocheted Cutie: If you’re not feeling extra leggy for your night out, crochet & leather are a dead sexy combo. This pink is soft and romantic while maintaining the sexy vibe by being see-through. Ya’ll, the detail is gorgeous. This top is from a fellow blogger, Christine Andrews of Hello Fashion Blog’s line, ILY Couture. Keep the sex appeal with a nice little bralette or wear a tank underneath to keep it PG. The leather pants are perfect for adding some edge and creating a long, lean silhouette. Not to mention, the ones I’m wearing are stretchy and super comfortable!
T-shirt Tenderness: Having a date with your couch? Maybe you’re bar hopping? This tee is super comfy and can easily be dressed up or down.I went with casual-chic by pairing it with distressed mom jeans,snakeskin booties and went Gucci gang with the belt. T-shirts are perfect because you can really go either way, and they’re a great neutralizing piece that tone down an outfit or keep it edgy. Graphic tees are such a staple transitional piece. I’ll chill at home with this tee and maybe some joggers, but I can easily exchange the joggers for a miniskirt, thigh highs, and a conduct hat, and I’m ready for a night out!
